Welcome to First Baptist Seniors
Leading the Way and Leaving a Legacy
Our goal matches our church mission statement – making disciples here and everywhere for the glory of God! Our seniors are on the front lines of ministry in our church and community. We want to lead the way by the example of our lives, participation in our groups, and ministry to the church and community. We want to leave a legacy of faithfulness and fruitfulness in the kingdom while having fun along the way.
If you are a senior adult (and willing to admit it!), we invite you to come and join us. The senior years have many opportunities and challenges. We do not go on this journey alone. As we learn from the Lord and lean upon each other, we are stronger together. Some can be very active and some are becoming less active. We have several ministry opportunities for our seniors and to our seniors at all stages.
If I can help you get connected to our senior adults, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 321-723-0561.

GriefShare: Your Journey from Mourning to Joy
The death of a family member or friend is devastating. Christians have the promises of God’s word and the fellowship of fellow believers for comfort and encouragement. GriefShare is meeting on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 PM in WC 115 on February 2nd. Elissa Collins and Bob Magee are the facilitators.
Senior Adult Luncheon
Join us for a great lunch, fellowship, and a guest speaker. Liana Hotusing with Vitas Healthcare will share about "Five Wishes" - a customized list of your future wishes, which is so important to you and your family. We will have a taco bar with all the trimmings and fruit pie for dessert. Pre-registration is needed in the church office by February 20. Cost is $6 and can be paid at the luncheon.
Mount Dora Trip
Mount Dora is a quaint little town in Central Florida that we like to visit. They have some unique little stores to shop in on the main street and several restaurants. We know that not everyone likes to shop so here are a few options for non-shoppers as well.
1. Two-hour Pontoon Boat Tour
The tour includes the famous Dora Canal which has been described as "the most beautiful mile of water in the world." Bald eagles, herons, turtles, and alligators are all common sightings during the tour. The cost of this cruise is $28.
2. Mount Dora Museum of Speed
Your visit to this ultimate man cave is a chance to relive the past and enjoy some of America's finest classic muscle cars. The cost of this museum is $15.
Please register in the church office with your preferred activity by March 6. Lunch will be on your own in your favorite restaurant in Mount Dora. We will leave the church at 8:30 AM and return late-afternoon.
Our theme this year is Motown. We have contracted with the Music Makers out of Lakeland as our performing group.
The dinner starts at 6 PM and we will offer the choice of beef tenderloin or chicken Marsala as our entrees with mashed potatoes, green beans, croissants, mixed salad, and chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Sara Rhodes will perform beautiful piano music as background music during dinner.
This evening is always a special one and our attire is semi-formal, but if you would like to wear something from this era in time, it is always welcome. We will have some photographers available to take pictures for the evening.
Tickets for the evening are $15 and may be purchased starting February 23 in the church office Monday-Friday. They may also be purchased on February 26, March 5, and March 12 at Registration Center A from 9:45-10:05 AM and from 11:15-11:35 AM. The deadline for purchasing tickets is March 13. So let's get ready to have a wonderful evening with great food, fellowship and entertainment.

Senior Adult Groups
Life Groups are small groups of up to 16 people that focus on sermon application, focused discipleship training, your own spiritual health plan, service, and discipling others. They meet weekly at a variety of times at church, in homes, and in other locations. You may attend either or both a life groups and a Sunday School group. For many of our seniors, life groups are a new experience and after being in a group really like the sharing and closeness a small group provides. It offers a different experience than Sunday morning Bible study groups.
