Welcome to First Baptist Seniors
Leading the Way and Leaving a Legacy
Our goal matches our church mission statement – making disciples here and everywhere for the glory of God! Our seniors are on the front lines of ministry in our church and community. We want to lead the way by the example of our lives, participation in our groups, and ministry to the church and community. We want to leave a legacy of faithfulness and fruitfulness in the kingdom while having fun along the way.
If you are a senior adult (and willing to admit it!), we invite you to come and join us. The senior years have many opportunities and challenges. We do not go on this journey alone. As we learn from the Lord and lean upon each other, we are stronger together. Some can be very active and some are becoming less active. We have several ministry opportunities for our seniors and to our seniors at all stages.
If I can help you get connected to our senior adults, please e-mail me at email@example.com or call 321-723-0561.
Disciple-Making and Senior Adults Pastor
Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
January 27 from 6 - 8 PM
The VIA Young Adults are sponsoring a banquet to honor our senior adults at 6:00 PM. This will be a fun night with a meal, game show, panel discussion, and new friendships. Please register by January 23 with the church receptionist. Cost is $5.
GriefShare: Your Journey from Mourning to Joy
The death of a family member or friend is devastating. Christians have the promises of God’s word and the fellowship of fellow believers for comfort and encouragement. GriefShare will start meeting Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 PM in WC 115 on February 2nd. Workbooks (optional) are available. Elissa Collins and Bob Magee are the facilitators.
St. John’s Riverboat Luncheon Cruise
The Barbara-Lee is a sternwheel paddleboat that leaves from its home port on Lake Monroe in charming downtown Sanford. The Barbara-Lee cruises the St. Johns for a three-hour luncheon cruise, serving up superior food, live music, and close-up views of the area's abundant wildlife. Please register by January 31 with $45 payment with the church receptionist. We plan to leave the church at 8:45 AM and return mid-afternoon.
Senior Adult Groups
Life Groups are small groups of up to 16 people that focus on sermon application, focused discipleship training, your own spiritual health plan, service, and discipling others. They meet weekly at a variety of times at church, in homes, and in other locations. You may attend either or both a life groups and a Sunday School group. For many of our seniors, life groups are a new experience and after being in a group really like the sharing and closeness a small group provides. It offers a different experience than Sunday morning Bible study groups.
