Young Adults (18-35 years)
Purpose: Outreach to the Hakka Chinese in Panama
Job Description: Building relationships, evangelism at the Chinese mall, teaching conversational English as a Second Language (ESL), leading camps at Sun Yat Sen and Panama Christian School, working with children, working with adults, prayerwalking, mapping, making friendships with Chinese business owners; encouraging David Wu and Tomas Koo (missionaries working with us and El Dorado Baptist), and leading block parties at the Chinese high rise buildings.
Cost of trip: $600 - $700 depending on flight costs
Team Meetings: Wednesday nights from 6-8 PM at FBC Melbourne as follows: May 9 and June 13. All team members will need to attend these meetings as we will hold training during these meetings.
May 15th:
Team members must have applied for their passports by this date.
Written personal testimony due.
5 prayer partners enlisted and names/emails due.
$400 deposit due to Sandy.
June 15th:
Team members completed reading the book, Foreign to Familiar.
Passport information (a copy of your passport) due to Sandy for completion of background checks, for purchasing flights, for arranging travel insurance and paying any deposits.
$300 remainder due to Sandy.
July 1st:
Team members completed ESL training and Cross Cultural Gospel training. (These will be offered during our team meeting times.) Personal Covenants due.
Impact Panama is the new partnership that FBC has with work on the ground in Panama. We have adopted an unreached people group of Chinese Panamanians and we will be sending multiple teams to Panama over the next several years to support the work to reach this group. Here is a video of a report given at the Bay West Campus from our first trip to Panama to establish connections with work on the ground there and to see how we can support and supplement what God is doing there.
