Young Marrieds Small Groups

Sunday Mornings (Melbourne Campus)YA Couple with Bible

At the Melbourne Campus, we have two young married Bible study classes that meet during each of the worship services. Our "Cornerstone" class meets on the first floor of the Education building (ED 118-119) at 9:15 AM.  The "Lifesong" class meets at 10:45 AM on the first floor of the Education building (ED 120).

MarriedLife Groups (Melbourne/Bay West Campuses)

MarriedLife groups meet during the week and are designed primarily to promote fellowship, discipleship and ministry among the body of Christ by establishing community and accountability in a small group setting. Neither the Christian life in general, nor Christian family life in particular, was designed to be carried out in isolation from other believers. MarriedLife groups give young married couples in our faith family the chance to “do life together” with other believing couples as we all seek to grow in Christlikeness. Consult the FAQs below for more information about this important small group aspect of our Young Married Ministry.

MarriedLife Groups FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

When/where do they meet?

The groups meet in participants’ homes at different times and on different nights throughout the week. Some groups meet every other week and some meet weekly, depending on the needs of the group.

What goes on at MarriedLife groups?

It’s pretty open, depending on the characteristics of the group. Usually there are snacks, fellowship, Bible study and prayer…and some fun.

What do MarriedLife groups study?

Well, in short, the Bible. Only the Word can help us to grow to be the men and woman, husbands and wives Christ has called us to be. Often we will use material on a specific topic covered in Scripture that addresses a relevant need in our lives. These studies are usually about 6-8 sessions long and will always include time for discussion of what God is teaching us.

How large our MarriedLife groups?

Anywhere from 4-8 couples. As the group grows toward 8 couples (about as much as most living rooms can hold!), typically the group will divide into two groups of 4 couples each so that group members can continue reaching out and inviting other friends to join.

Are MarriedLife groups for Melbourne Campus or Bay West Campus?

Both! When we list our current MarriedLife groups we indicate whether the primary make-up of that group includes folks from our Melbourne Campus or Bay West Campus. However, as we are one church in two locations some of our groups contain folks from both campuses and all groups are open to folks from both campuses. Just pick the group that works best for your schedule.

How do I get to be a part of a MarriedLife group? How do I pick my group?

View this month’s newsletter on the Young Married Home Page. It contains the most up-to-date information on when and where our groups are currently meeting. Look for one that fits your time, schedule, and location, and contact the group leader at the phone number listed. The leader will give you directions to their house and let you know when the group is meeting next!

What if I’m not sure about committing to being a part of a MarriedLife group?

Showing up and checking the group out is not a commitment to continue attending. If one group doesn’t fit, perhaps another group will, or perhaps you can be a part of the launch of a new group. Contact Pastor Scott at 723-0561 (ext. 241) to discuss options and what group might be the best fit for you.

Other Small Group Opportunities

• ME Time (Mother’s Enrichment)

ME Time is a moms’ group for mothers of all ages from both Melbourne and Bay West Campuses. ME Time has a vision that moms from all walks of life will come together for spiritual, social, and emotional enrichment. Childcare is provided upon reservation and a childcare rotation is in place among volunteer moms. For childcare reservations contact . ME Time generally meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month (except during the summer), from 9:30 AM-11:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall (at the Melbourne Campus)

• Softball

Our church has a few teams that play in an area-wide church softball league, and many guys from the Young Married Ministry play on the teams. One team is almost entirely composed of young married men.

• Co-Ed Volleyball

Each Fall we have a co-ed volleyball league on Monday evenings. Many of our MarriedLife groups form teams. The league plays matches in our church’s multi-purpose center (Melbourne Campus). The season runs from September thru early November with a tournament at the end of the season.

• Married Couples Game Night

On the last Friday of every month, many young married couples come together for a game night at the home of Jon and Allison Adams.  This is a great opportunity for those new to the church to meet other couples in our Young Married Ministry. For more information, contact Jon or Allison at (828)775-3988.
