We understand that platform teaching is a part of someone's decision to come to a church, not nearly all, but a part. Jim's philosophy on teaching is to take the Bible straight on, as it's written, but do that in a creative way that not only challenges the listener to examine and re-examine what the Bible says, but also helps the listener remember the point at lunch on Wednesday.
There is nothing that anyone can say or do to make the Bible more powerful or more valuable. The Word of God is simply unique in its existence... Calling it "a book” is more constricting a concept to the Bible, as saying the sun is being “a circle”. We want you to experience God's Word in our worship and continue to find it on your own throughout your life.

Philosophy of Teaching
We don't answer every question, because we aren't the source of all answers, that's God. We want to be part of an experience that leads you, through your relationship with Christ, to find the peace and understanding and trust in God that everyone desires deeply to experience. We expect you to leave our services with both questions and answers and to know where you can go to find the answers...to God and His Word.
We hope that in your time with God on Tuesday morning that God would be continuously building on what you learned on Sunday and by Friday or 6 months or 6 years from now, it might be a completely individual lesson that God created just for you through your prayer with Him, your struggles, victories, losses, wins and overall experiences, where you are.
You may never remember where the ball started rolling or even remember our part in it and that's FINE. We simply desire to be the exact part of the process that God has determined that we should play. And we hope that you'll share that with us, so we can all keeping growing closer to our Lord and experiencing the life He meant for us.
Communicators at Bay West
While Jim is our primary communicator at Bay West, he believes in learning from the body and will at times involve leaders at Bay West to learn from what God is teaching them directly. There will be times where the teaching is done by other communicators on the communication team at FBC. You just never know.
