  • Visiting?

Making Disciples Here & Everywhere for the Glory of God.

On your first visit, look for our “Visitor Parking” spaces at the west and north sides of the building. If you have small children you may want to park on the east side of the building by our preschool entrance for your convenience. Friendly folks will be ready to greet you at all of our major entrances and escort you to the sanctuary for worship. They can also help you identify a small group Bible study class where you can connect with others, and escort you to that class’ meeting location.

  • Worship

Making Disciples Here & Everywhere for the Glory of God.

Worshiping our Savior together is a core value for us and is a highlight of our week! Our two morning services are identical in style and are led by our Praise Team, Worship Choir and Orchestra. Because we believe God has spoken to us through His Word, we also place great emphasis in our services on faithful Bible preaching.

  • Children

Making Disciples Here & Everywhere for the Glory of God.

First Baptist is a family church and we want to do everything we can to help your children and students connect with God and grow in their faith. We think that happens best when families worship together with their children 1st grade and up. (Don’t worry, we know kids make noise!) While parents attend adult Bible study, we have exciting classes available for children of all ages. Students in 7th-12th grade typically attend the first worship service with their families (9 AM) and meet together in our student center for Bible study during the latter worship hour (10:40 AM). Hosts are available at all the entrances to help you navigate the halls and find these various locations.

Ministerial Staff

Dr. Scott Wilson

Lead Pastor

Melbourne is my hometown and First Baptist is my home church. And I’m so glad that God has given me the rare opportunity to come back to Melbourne and pastor this great group of believers called First Baptist! I came to know Christ as Savior and was baptized when I was seven years old. I felt the Lord calling me into full-time Christian ministry during my senior year of high school and from that point forward I’ve been preparing myself for the work of ministry. Following an undergraduate in music at Florida State (Go Noles!), I was blessed to spend about eight years at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC earning two theological degrees (Masters of Divinity and PhD in Systematic Theology). God has blessed me so much in bringing my wife Megan into my life, a woman whose beauty inside and out is truly amazing. We have three pretty cool little boys also (though I might be a little biased!) named Silas, Micah, and Titus. My ministry passion is teaching and preaching the life-giving Word of God. My life’s verse is John 3:30 where John the Baptist says of Jesus, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” While I fall well short of this ideal, my desire is that people would see more of Jesus and less of me and that everything I do and say would point people around me to the only One who is worthy of our worship—King Jesus!

Dr. David Hasker

Worship Pastor

I was raised in a Christian home in the Washington, D.C. area where I came to know Christ as my Savior at a young age.  I surrendered to God’s call on my life at a youth conference in Oswego, NY when I was 14 years old.  From that time on, my preparation and passion was to serve Christ and His Church with my gifts and talents and to instill in every generation a deep desire to worship the Living God.

I am a graduate Liberty University (Bachelor of Sacred Music), The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Church Music), Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Arts in Religion) and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry in Worship Leadership). Prior to coming to FBC Melbourne in 2003, I served churches in Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, and North Carolina.

I share my life with my wife Le Ann, who is a music educator. We have three wonderful children, Ethan, Evan, and Emma. In my spare time I enjoy reading, cooking, teaching, watching Duck Dynasty, and our family’s miniature wire-haired dachshund, Rudy.

Dr. Dennis Smith

Disciple-Making Pastor

I surrendered to ministry by saying, “Lord, help me to understand what it means to be a Christian and I will help others understand what it means to be a Christian.” The joy and privilege of my life has been to serve the Lord by helping others grow in Christ. On this journey, God has blessed me with Nancy, a wonderful partner and wife, and our three sons: Nathan (married to Jerrica), Joseph, and Andrew. I am a graduate of Mississippi College (B.A. in Religion), The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity in Religious Education), and the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry). Before coming to First Baptist Melbourne in 2000, I was privileged to serve churches in Mississippi and Louisiana. In my spare time I enjoy kayaking, fishing, camping, and just being with my family.

Rev. Doug Mauldin

Community and Family Life Pastor

What a blessing it is to be a child of the King. We serve an incredible loving God who touched each one of us uniquely for His purposes. I have had the privilege of working and seeing God move in the lives of students for over 30 years and now God has begun a new chapter in my book of Life. I am so excited about this new call to serve the Lord: working with our young adults, local missions and recreation. My prayer is that together our lives will be used to reflect the love of Christ. I grew up in Orlando, Florida, and received my Bachelor's degree from UCF. My journey continued to Fort Worth, Texas, where I received my Master's degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I have been blessed with a beautiful wife named Kim and two amazing gifts; my daughter, Kylee, and my son, Keaton. I had the privilege of serving at Churches in Central Florida before God led my family to Melbourne.

My heart continues to beat to share the love of Christ and to disciple people to become passionate about serving the King of Kings. It has been 18 wonderful years seeing God move here at First Baptist Melbourne.

Jason Schack

Student Pastor

I was born in Melbourne and grew up in a Christian home. I attended Mel High and UCF and came back to Brevard county to work as an educator in the school system. I fortunately ended up back at my alma mater as a PE/Health teacher. During my tenure at Mel High, I was approached to be an FCA coordinator. Not knowing completely what I was getting into, I said yes. It was one of the best decisions of my life, as FCA gave me a heart and a passion for seeing young men and women worship our God.

After nine years in the school system, I felt God calling me into full-time student ministry. He opened door after door and led me to this position at a church that has meant so much to me and my family. My time in the school system allowed me to make many relationships that give me a platform to promote the gospel through the ministry of FCA. Once students have a desire to know God, our student ministry provides them a means to grow their relationship with Christ!

I am married to a wonderful, patient, and beautiful woman named Joanna, and we have three children; Ansley, Ashlyn, and John Luke. My favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17 If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. For me, this verse paints the perfect picture of our surrendered life to Christ as his creation!

Jenny Goodson

Minister to Children

I am a Florida native, we are becoming harder and harder to find! I was born in Jacksonville and raised in the coastal Pensacola area. I am a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and Family Life Services, and have been a member of the First Baptist staff since 1999. I was raised in a wonderful Christian home, and have been a believer since the age of nine. I am the mother of two awesome daughters, and I love the beauty of the beach - especially along the Gulf coast. I am an avid cyclist but also enjoy reading, collecting shark teeth, amateur interior design, and the wonders of children. I delight in the promises of my life verse, Isaiah 42:16, which speaks to a cyclist's heart but most importantly gives a clear reminder of God's faithfulness... "Along unfamiliar paths I will guide you; I will turn the darkness into light before you and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake you."

Rev. Jim Campbell

Bay West Campus Pastor

After accepting God’s call to ministry at 15, He has been preparing me and training me to serve Him daily…wherever that is.  From serving in various ministry roles in the church (Worship, Students, Young Adults, Communications/Technology) from Kentucky to Texas to other opportunities to minister out of the church, God has been teaching me each day that my life is about trying to reflect the work on God around me and in my life.  After gaining my BS in Marketing/Business Administration at Troy State University, I received two blessings at graduate school at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary…a Masters of Divinity and the most awesome wife a guy could have.  Katye and I have 3 children (Ann Marie, Susanna, and Braden) who God uses daily to show us who He is and how we are to love others.

I came to FBC Melbourne as Minister to Young Adults in 2007, but was honored after a couple of years to be called to start our first satellite campus, Bay West Church in September of 2009, where I currently serve the body of Christ.  Never thought I’d be doing that, but it has been an adventure, a lesson, a journey, a challenge and a blessing all in one.

If you are around me long enough, you’ll know I love Jesus, the Crimson Tide and the Dallas Mavericks…and I’ll talk your ear off about those subjects if you get me going.  Two of the most important verses to me are Proverbs 9:10 and Colossians 3:23…I encourage you to look them up.

Lee Martinez

WCIF 106.3 FM General Manager

I was born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in a very religious home. After high school I went on to college in 1958. In 1960 I enlisted in the Air Force. A few good things happened while I was in the service. I studied electronics and enjoyed my work but best of all I met and married Joanna in 1962. In 1968 the Lord made me realize my need for Him and lovingly brought me into His kingdom thanks to my family and His messenger Jack Van Impe.

I am a graduate of Moody Bible Institute (1973), with a major in Broadcasting and of course a minor in Bible. Our family was with The Bible Broadcasting Network for 9 ½ years. We were with them in High Point, N.C. and Atlanta, Ga. before being called to WCIF in 1983.

??One of my gifts is encourager. I feel like Paul must have when he wrote, “My aim is to raise hopes by pointing the way to life without end. This is the life God promised long ago – and He doesn’t break promises!” (Titus 1:1,2).

And, in radio, God has put the perfect tool in our hands to reach every home in our community. It is my goal to keep the clear light of God’s Word shining so people will have someplace to focus as the world gets more confusing.

“Summing it all up friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized.” (Philippians 4:8,9 - The Message Bible).

Raul Torres

Children's Leader Bay West Campus

I have been a part of Bay West Church since its beginning in 2009. Since then I have been serving faithfully in KIDzone on Sunday mornings. Through that time, God has revealed to me a passion to teach children about Christ. When the position came open for the Children's Leader at Bay West in 2013, my wife and I prayed about it, and I applied, eventually being brought onto the staff in July of 2013.

I have been married to my beautiful wife, Michelle, since 2007. She is equally passionate about loving and serving kids, with a compassionate heart to those that are hurting around her. I am the Leader of a large, blended family, we have 4 children ranging in ages from 7 to 16, and a boxer named Chief. We have learned to trust God through hard circumstances and easy ones, but no matter what, God always comes through.

I enjoy photography, playing with my kids and golf, when I have time, as well as home improvement projects.
