    Glad you are here

First Baptist Melbourne is a caring congregation that welcomes everyone. We want you to discover the joy that we share when we come together to worship God in spirit and in truth. • Visiting?

Making Disciples Here & Everywhere for the Glory of God.

On your first visit, look for our “Visitor Parking” spaces at the west and north sides of the building. If you have small children you may want to park on the east side of the building by our preschool entrance for your convenience. Friendly folks will be ready to greet you at all of our major entrances and escort you to the sanctuary for worship. They can also help you identify a small group Bible study class where you can connect with others, and escort you to that class’ meeting location.

  • Worship

Making Disciples Here & Everywhere for the Glory of God.

Worshiping our Savior together is a core value for us and is a highlight of our week! Our two morning services are identical in style and are led by our Praise Team, Worship Choir and Orchestra. Because we believe God has spoken to us through His Word, we also place great emphasis in our services on faithful Bible preaching.

  • Children

Making Disciples Here & Everywhere for the Glory of God.

First Baptist is a family church and we want to do everything we can to help your children and students connect with God and grow in their faith. We think that happens best when families worship together with their children 1st grade and up. (Don’t worry, we know kids make noise!) While parents attend adult Bible study, we have exciting classes available for children of all ages. Students in 7th-12th grade typically attend the first worship service with their families (9 AM) and meet together in our student center for Bible study during the latter worship hour (10:40 AM). Hosts are available at all the entrances to help you navigate the halls and find these various locations.

Ministerial Staff

Dr. Scott Wilson

Lead Pastor

Our Lead Pastor, Dr. Scott Wilson, grew up in our church family. He came to know Christ and was baptized as a boy while here at First Baptist. He was called into ministry here as well. We are thankful that in God’s providence He has led Pastor Scott, his wife Megan, and his family back to Melbourne to minister among us as our Lead Pastor for teaching and vision.

Scott attended Florida State University, majoring in music. From there he attended Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Divinity degree, as well as a PhD in Systematic Theology. He and Megan have three children, all boys, Silas, Micah, and Titus. Pastor Scott is strongly committed to expository preaching of God’s Word and disciple-making, both here in Melbourne and among the nations. His life verse is John 3:30, “He (Jesus) must increase, but I must decrease.”

Dr. David A. Hasker

Worship Pastor

Pastor David is the Worship Pastor at FBC Melbourne. His responsibilities include giving vision and direction to the entire music ministry as well as planning and leading the worship services, with our Lead Pastor. Additionally, he is the founding director of Gateway Academy of the Arts here at FBC Melbourne offering instruction in the performing arts from a Christian worldview.

David grew up in the Washington, DC area and came to know Christ as Savior at a young age. He surrendered to God’s call on his life at a youth conference in Oswego, NY when he was 14 years old. From that time on, his preparation and passion were to serve Christ and His Church with the gifts and talents God gave him and to instill in others a deep desire to encounter the Living God in worship.

Prior to coming to FBC Melbourne in August 2003, David served churches in Virginia and North Carolina. He is a graduate of Liberty University, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

He shares his life with his wife Le Ann and they have three wonderful children, Ethan, Evan, and Emma. In his spare time he enjoys reading, teaching, Fox News, Downton Abby, and the family’s miniature wire-haired dachshund, Rudy.

Mr. Jason Schack

Student Pastor

Pastor Jason oversees the Student Ministry, 7th-12th grade along with his amazing adult leadership team. Once students have a desire to know God, our student ministry provides them a means to grow their relationship with Christ! Jason’s heart for the Student Ministry is to come along side parents as teammates in discipling their children.

Jason was born in Melbourne and grew up in a Christian home. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in health and physical education. After nine years as an educator in the Brevard County school system, Jason felt a calling to full-time student ministry. God opened door after door and led him to be the Student Pastor at FBC Melbourne in May 2014.

Jason is married to a wonderful, patient, and beautiful woman named Joanna, and they have three children; Ansley, Ashlyn, and John Luke. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, hunting and the great outdoors.

His favorite verse is 2 Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” This verse paints the perfect picture of our surrendered life to Christ as his creation!

Ms. Jenny Goodson

Minister to Children

Jenny is a Florida native. She was born in Jacksonville and raised in the coastal Pensacola area. She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Life Services. Jenny oversees all ministries to preschoolers and children through 6th grade and has been a member of the FBC Melbourne staff since 1999. In this role she also serves as liaison to the FBC Melbourne Weekday Preschool and SPLASH Homeschool Group.

Jenny considers herself blessed to have been raised in a Christian home and has been a believer since the age of nine. She is the mother of two daughters and loves the beauty of the beach - especially along the Gulf coast. Jenny enjoys cycling, reading, collecting shark teeth, amateur interior design, and the wonders of children!

She delights in the promises of her life verse, Isaiah 42:16, which speaks to a cyclist's heart but most importantly gives a clear reminder of God's faithfulness... "Along unfamiliar paths I will guide you; I will turn the darkness into light before you and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake you."

Mr. Darren Wolfe

Administrative Pastor

Pastor Darren grew up in Jupiter, Florida where he enjoyed fishing and playing sports. His life began to change when a cute girl in high school told him, ‘if you want to sit with me at the movies on Saturday, you will have to sit next to me in church on Sunday.’ Over the following year, that lost teenage boy heard the gospel clearly explained at Beacon Baptist Church. Shortly after his seventeenth birthday, Darren asked Jesus to be the forgiver of his sins and the Lord of his life. After high school, Darren attended college and upon graduating he moved to Melbourne to start a career with Harris Corporation. More importantly, he was wise enough to ask that cute girl to marry him. She said “yes” and over the next 16 years, Darren and Amy lived in three different states and two different countries on various financial assignments for Harris. Through those experiences, they both felt the growing call to fulltime ministry.

In February 2016, Darren resigned from his Finance Director position and was called to FBC Melbourne as the Administrative Pastor. In this role, Darren serves by overseeing the financial, legal, HR, facilities and other administrative aspects of the church.

Pastor Darren is happily married to his high school sweetheart and they have a house full of kids. Darren received his undergraduate degree with a dual major in Finance and Economics from University of Central Florida in 1999. In 2006, Darren also earned his Masters in Business Administration from UCF. He is currently pursuing a masters degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. Larry Bazer

Pastor Emeritus and Senior Adult Pastor

Our Pastor Emeritus, Brother. Larry, was the pastor of FBC Melbourne for 25 years. In 2011, his passion for missions and heart for pastors led him to be “recommissioned” for a new ministry calling. After years of leading many mission trips to many countries he felt the call of God to use his gifts in teaching and equipping church leaders from among the nations. He is the founder and president of SentEtc. and now travels the world teaching the word of God to those pastors and leaders who have no access to theological education. For those who could never attend a seminary, Brother Larry brings seminary education to them! Never one to just sit around, Larry desired to continue ministering to the FBC Melbourne church family between his travels, and in 2015 he had the joy of rejoining the pastoral staff team as Senior Adult Pastor.

He is married to his beautiful bride, Gayle, and they have three children and seven grandchildren.

In his free time he enjoys reading, golfing, skiing, and just being with his grandkids.
